On the
IIM...
Interim management is an increasingly important discipline and resourcing
tool, both in the UK and internationally. Whatever the size of client organisations,
the industry sectors in which they operate, or business issues faced, IIM Members
represent the highest standards of quality, best practice and experience, and
are uniquely placed to deliver the right solutions.

About the Institute of Interim Management Since September 2002, the IIM has been a fully independent professional Institute and incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation limited by guarantee. For further background information, view the History page.

The IIM mission The mission of the Institute of Interim Management is to be recognised as the pre-eminent professional body for quality standards of accreditation, professional development and best practice for practitioners of Interim Management in the UK, which will lead the development of Interim Management both in the UK and internationally. The professional interim – added value and lasting impact A professional interim has chosen to work with many organisations as a career choice. What differentiates the Professional Interim? - Experts in their field – fully qualified and experienced
- Professional Interims work through the solution with your staff – they do not present a report and then leave
- Strong supporting skills to ensure transfer of knowledge into your organisation
- Being an Interim is their professional choice – they are not seeking employment in your organisation
- IIM members undertake proactive CPD to maintain current knowledge and skills
How can that benefit organisations? - The interim brings fresh ideas from other organisations, whether by experience success or failure, the interim has more “lessons learned” in his armoury than many.
- In many permanent roles, 8o% of learning is achieved in the first few months. Changing roles regularly brings constant learning. This is an established way of developing management trainees in the best organisations.
- An interim with a real ability to make a difference in a particular field, will deliver improvement, change and the capability for ongoing development.
- He helps develop his successors into the rôle
How does the IIM promote its members? How can you be sure of the best quality Interim? The Institute is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association, which set out its constitution. (Members who wish to view and/or download a copy may do so by logging in to the Members' Area and selecting "Announcements".) Under the Articles, the work of the Institute is directed by its Management Board, which is composed of Members of the Institute elected in May at the Annual General Meeting. The work of the Board is supported by a number of sub-committees, all of which are chaired by a Board member. More information about the Board.
